#GivingTuesday – Spread the Word

14:11:26

As nonprofit and church leaders, you know how difficult it can be to effectively spread the word about any sort of fundraising campaign. The balance between tact and effectiveness is often a very thin line and many times leaders can find themselves quickly becoming either overzealous or too timid in their messaging.

With our #GivingTuesday e-giving drive coming up, we wanted to make sure all of our participating organizations were prepared to spread the word to their donors about giving back to a fellow organization.  If you need a few pointers on how to encourage giving from your most loyal donors take a look at our previous blog, but for more short term solutions for #GivingTuesday follow some of the suggestions below.

Encourage Your Donors To Post An #Unselfie

By now we’re sure you’ve seen, or have heard of, the #unselfie. To show support for #GivingTuesday, donors take a photo depicting their pledges and efforts for #GivingTuesday and post it to their Instagram feeds with the tags #unselfie and #GivingTuesday. By sharing their act of kindness with their followers, your donors can be one of the major vehicles behind driving the message of giving.

Social Media Is Your Friend

Any tech-savvy millennial knows that the best way to get the word out about an event quickly is to harness the power of social media. If you already have an established fan base on your social profiles, take a few moments to craft a well-written message to draw your followers attention to your newest campaign. Engaging your followers in this way allows them the opportunity to get involved in the conversation by commenting or sharing your news with their own personal networks.

Put Together An Email Blast

Taking the time to directly ask your dedicated donors to get involved with a new initiative is a great way to deliver your message. If you’re looking for a few more tips on how to write an effective email take a look at our previous blog post.

We hope you’re just as excited about our #GivingTuesday e-giving drive as we are! Use a few of these tips to share your story and your goals with your donors – we’re sure you’ll be surprised by the results!
