14:11:19

We’re getting excited. There’s just a few more days between now and #GivingTuesday and we can’t wait to see the amazing work you all do to help out a fellow nonprofit organization!

To us at e-giving Powered by NCS Services, the best part of this time of year is the opportunity to spread the love. With so many individuals ready to share their blessings with those in need,  it’s amazing to see what a little teamwork and motivation can do. That’s why we’ve decided to jump on the bandwagon with our e-giving drive for #GivingTuesday! The gist: raise as much money as you can for another organization on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 and you could win one of five $300 prizes to add to your collected donation.

There are a wealth of worthy nonprofits all vying for our attention. With so many ‘donate now’ buttons to choose from it can be difficult to decide which organization to select – so how are you going to narrow down your choices? If you need a little help deciding where to draw the line, keep a few of these pointers in mind.

Choose A Cause First

The easiest way to begin narrowing down your choices is to look for a cause that you’re interested in. Do you want to help keep shelter dogs warm and safe? Would you like to help the homeless in your area? Find organizations that are working to alleviate an issue you’re concerned about and you’ll be on your way to finding your benefiting organization!

How Efficient Are They?

Though it should not be the only determining factor in your choice between organizations, there’s quite a bit to be said about how efficiently a nonprofit organization can take your gifts and use them to accomplish their goals. Doing a little research  before you pick your benefiting organization into the amount of overhead they have and the amount of work they have accomplished in the past will help you make sure you’re giving your money to an organization that will use it wisely to do good.

Understand Their Work

There are plenty of ways to go about working to help solve a problem, but not all of those ways may align with your values. Before selecting an organization to fundraise for, take a look at the methods behind their message. If you don’t agree completely with how a particular nonprofit chooses to reach their goals it may be best to choose another organization.

Are They A 501c3?

Determining the status of a nonprofit organization can help you to establish the legitimacy of that organization. It also doesn’t hurt that in order to qualify for our contest your benefiting nonprofit of choice needs to be a verified 501c3.

Check Out Their Website

After you’ve selected a nonprofit organization that you think may be a good fit to raise funds for on #GivingTuesday take a peek at their website. Be sure to check for all of the above items, but also take a moment to gauge how easily they can be contacted. If a nonprofit seems unapproachable or gives you any trouble when you try to reach out, that should be a red flag that they may not be a good organization to work with.

Choosing a nonprofit can be a tough undertaking, but with a little care and consideration you’ll be sure to pick the organization that’s right for you. Have you chosen the nonprofit that you’ll be fundraising for on #GivingTuesday? Let us know who you’ve selected!
